Peat Rigg

Mrs Curzon and Miss Johnson took our fabulous Year 5 and 6 on a residential visit to Peat Rigg Outdoor Centre last week. What an amazing time we had!

We started with a low zipline on Monday to build our confidence on the ropes, along with problem solving in teams and then some wide games in the dark after tea, including Rubber Chicken Rounders and Capture The Flag!

After a good night’s sleep and a very hearty breakfast, we progressed to the high zipline and practised our fire-lighting skills in a bushcraft session. The afternoon was canoeing on the lake and the weather was perfect as we challenged ourselves on the water as well as in it. After showers and tea, we tried our hand at orienteering in teams as the sun started to set and a super-moon rose! We used the opportunity to see if we could spot some constellations and howled at the moon!

Our last day saw us face the most challenging task – a 70ft abseil from a bridge. Everyone challenged themselves and pushed themselves out of their comfort zone and from this activity, our motto was born: “I’m Strong, I’m Brave and I Can Do Hard Things!”

The children were a shining representation of our school and were polite, kind to each other, encouraging and willing to push themselves forward in order to flourish.

We’re very proud of them!
