We have had aย wonderfully busy and magicalย half term filled with Christmas cheer and lots of exciting learning experiences!ย
The children have lovedย icing Christmas cakesย using foam and pool noodles, developing theirย fine motor skills, handย strengthย and creativity. We also made beautifulย Christmas tree decorations out of clay, exploring different textures and materials while strengthening those all-importantย finger musclesย needed for early writing.ย
Our classroom has been buzzing with literacy activities! The children enjoyedย writing letters to Santaย andย creating Christmas cards, practicing mark making, letterย formationย and sharing their ideas through early writing. We also spent timeย retelling the Christmas story and Nativity, buildingย listening, understanding and communication skills, beforeย proudlyย performing the Nativityย for others โ showing confidence,ย cooperationย and expressive language.ย
In our role-play and construction areas, the children worked together toย build a sleigh to help Santa deliver presents, developingย teamwork, problem-solving and imaginative play. Ourย Christmas-themed number sense activitiesย helped children practice counting,ย recognisingย numbers, matchingย quantitiesย and using mathematical language in fun, meaningful ways.ย
Weโveย also enjoyedย decorating our classroom Christmas tree, taking turns, sharingย ideasย and making choices, and of course,ย counting down to Christmas, which has beenย a great opportunityย to talk about time,ย routinesย and celebrations.ย
