🎄 What an Action-Packed Festive Half Term! 🎄

We have had a wonderfully busy and magical half term filled with Christmas cheer and lots of exciting learning experiences!

The children have loved icing Christmas cakes using foam and pool noodles, developing their fine motor skills, hand strength and creativity. We also made beautiful Christmas tree decorations out of clay, exploring different textures and materials while strengthening those all-important finger muscles needed for early writing.

Our classroom has been buzzing with literacy activities! The children enjoyed writing letters to Santa and creating Christmas cards, practicing mark making, letter formation and sharing their ideas through early writing. We also spent time retelling the Christmas story and Nativity, building listening, understanding and communication skills, before proudly performing the Nativity for others – showing confidence, cooperation and expressive language.

In our role-play and construction areas, the children worked together to build a sleigh to help Santa deliver presents, developing teamwork, problem-solving and imaginative play. Our Christmas-themed number sense activities helped children practice counting, recognising numbers, matching quantities and using mathematical language in fun, meaningful ways.

We’ve also enjoyed decorating our classroom Christmas tree, taking turns, sharing ideas and making choices, and of course, counting down to Christmas, which has been a great opportunity to talk about time, routines and celebrations.

This half term has been packed with opportunities to develop key EYFS skills across:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Expressive Arts and Design
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

The children have shown fantastic enthusiasm, creativity and teamwork throughout all our festive learning. Thank you for your continued support – we can’t wait for more exciting learning adventures in the new term!
