About Us – Sharow CE Primary School, Sharow, Ripon
Sharow CE Primary School and Nursery, near Ripon, is a welcoming and inclusive village school serving families in Sharow and the wider Ripon community. With around 80 pupils, our small size enables us to know every child as an individual and support them to flourish.
Our vision, “Flourish Together”, sits at the heart of all we do. We nurture the whole child through high-quality teaching, strong relationships and a breadth of experiences that develop confidence, curiosity and creativity.
A Rich and Balanced Curriculum
At Sharow CE Primary School and Nursery, Sharow, Ripon, learning goes far beyond the classroom:
- Extensive outdoor space means visitors often describe our school as “like a Tardis.” We are fortunate to have:
- A large playing field
- An allweather track
- A peaceful Peace Garden
- Two playgrounds
- A dedicated Forest School area
- Forest School sessions build resilience, independence and a love of nature.
- Sport is a key part of school life, with festivals, interschool competitions and a wide range of physical activities.
- Music and performance thrive here. Every child takes part in annual productions, beginning with the Nativity and progressing to wholeschool performances that celebrate creativity and confidence.
Residentials & Enrichment
Our progression of residential and outdoor experiences helps children grow in independence, teamwork and resilience:
- Year 2: Camp on the school field
- Year 3 & 4: Residential visit to Marrick Priory
- Year 5 & 6: Residentials to Peat Rigg and London, taken in alternate years
These experiences create lasting memories and develop skills that support learning back in school.

Strong partnerships are central to our success. We work closely with parents, our local church, Governors and the Ripon community to provide a caring and purposeful learning environment where every child can thrive.
