At Sharow CofE Primary School, we want children to enjoy learning about the past and understand how it shapes the world around them. We use the Kapow Primary History scheme of work to support our teaching. Kapow provides engaging lessons, clear progression and practical activities that help children think like real historians.
Children learn through stories, timelines, artefacts, drama, research and lots of discussion.
- In Early Years, pupils explore their own history and talk about how life has changed.
- In Key Stage 1, they learn about famous people, important events and changes within living memory.
- In Key Stage 2, they study a wide range of British, local and world history—from the Stone Age and Romans to Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece and beyond.
Our aim is for all children to leave Sharow with curiosity, confidence and a strong understanding of how people lived in the past. They develop the skills to ask questions, use evidence and make connections across different time periods.
