Making Fat Cakes for Birds

As part of developing our Understanding of the world, we made fat cakes for the birds. We talked about how hibernating animals gather food for winter. The children were asked “Do you think that birds hibernate?” “How do you think birds get food in winter when there are no more berries, and the ground is too hard to get worms?” We then talked about ways we could help by making fat cakes to hang in our outdoor provision.
