Our Autumnal Walk

Today, we wrapped up warm and set off on a wonderful autumnal walk in the woods behind our local church. Each child brought along their very own Autumn Treasure Chest, ready to collect some of nature’s special seasonal gifts.

As we wandered beneath the trees, we listened carefully to the crunch of leaves under our feet, spotted the golden, red and brown colours all around us, and breathed in that lovely fresh autumn air. The children were so excited to find shiny conkers, prickly seed cases, crunchy leaves, bendy sticks, and even a few tiny pinecones to add to their collections!

It was a true sensory adventure — full of sights, sounds, smells and textures. We talked about how the woods are changing now that it’s autumn, and how animals might use some of the treasures we found to make cosy homes for the winter ahead.

The children showed such curiosity, teamwork, and care for nature throughout our walk. We’re so proud of how engaged and observant they were! 🌰🍁

We can’t wait to explore more of the seasonal changes as autumn unfolds — perhaps next time we’ll see even more signs of nature getting ready for winter.
