KS1 were very lucky to attend a performance of Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute, presented by Opera North as part of Ripon Theatre Festival. The children were captivated by this magical adaptation of the well-loved opera, which had been specially tailored for young audiences.
The opera singers were accompanied by an accordion, and the children loved watching the musician's skill and the wide range of sounds the instrument could create. Combined with the soaring operatic voices and engaging storytelling, the performance brought the adventure of The Magic Flute to life in a fun and accessible way.
With its colourful characters, lively audience participation and comic moments, it felt almost like an operatic pantomime! It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience live music and theatre, and a memorable introduction to the world of opera. 🎭🎶✨
